I am a father, husband, son, friend, mentor, coach, colleague and volunteer who has always attempted to bring out the best in others. I’ve had the good fortune of being led by amazing people over my career and I believe those experiences helped make me who I am today. After having the opportunity to work, travel and experience the world, I settled back into this Maumee/Monclova community and immediately fell in love. It has been the perfect place to raise my children, establish a new career with Sunshine Communities, and finds friends and hobbies that motivate me to be better each day.
Q: What do you love most about what you do?
It provides a unique opportunity to positively impact hundreds of lives every day – both those with developmental disabilities and our employees.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I believe it would be a group of individuals, rather than a singular person. The parents, coaches and volunteers who I was fortunate enough to join in raising a generation of confident young adults has been the most interesting a talented group of people I have met in our community.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Having such fortune to have already experienced most of this incredibly diverse planet, I would most enjoy revisiting countries in and around the Mediterranean region.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Never assume that you know what someone is or isn’t going through. Be kind regardless of appearances, because reality is often far better or far worse than it appears.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Sky diving – although I do admit a younger version of me would have been much less nervous!
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I’d say Elon Musk. My reason is more related to my curiosity of what makes generational leaders unique, as opposed to admiring or idolizing him. He seems to operate across a multitude of spectrums and the stream of consciousness in which he speaks would be intriguing to experience live. Where – a small outdoor café in Europe somewhere possibly.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I believe my favorite thing is the way in which our community has grown over the past 15 years. With growth comes a host of challenges and opportunities, however we’ve seemed, until now at least, to take advantage of opportunities to develop a generation of new leaders in the midst of the growth.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
The opportunities we’ve provided to children through our schools and our community resources.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My children, wife, family, friends and co-workers. Possibly more than anything the memory of my father and the man he’s wished I would become.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family – Memories – Laughter
